Dear Dharma Friends,
You
are warmly invited to join us October 17-19, 2026 for a very special
weekend of meditation and teachings with Venerable Drupon Rinchen Dorjee
Rinpoche.
Rinpoche
will offer the rarely-given Coemergent Chakrasamvara Empowerment, and
provide transmission for the Five Arisings Completion Stage practice. He
will also offer teachings and direct, experiential instruction on the
profound practice of Mahamudra.
We
are greatly blessed to welcome Drupon Rinchen Dorjee back to DDCV,
particularly to bestow Chakrasamvara, a practice in which he holds
special accomplishment. His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche encourages all
students to receive this empowerment from Drupon-la, if possible. For
many years, he has led the annual Chakrasamvara Retreat at Garchen
Buddhist Institute, where he also serves as Three Year Retreat
Master.

Chakrasamvara, the 'Supreme Wheel of Bliss', is
one of the most important mother tantra practices. Drupon Rinchen
Dorjee will bestow the Coemergent Chakrasamvara empowerment, a rare and
special transmission with a particular connection to the
completion-stage practices of Chakrasamvara. This precious
empowerment was composed by Rigdzin Chokyi Dragpa, the
reincarnation of Gyalwang Rinchen Phuntsok, who brought the essence
Chakrasamvara through Ghantapa together in one concise practice.
In
this profound practice, Chakrasamara unites with Vajravarahi as the
supreme embodiment of bliss and emptiness. It offers the practitioner a
path through which desire, and ultimately, bliss, can be harnessed as a
method to awaken to the natural state.
The
Coemergent Chakrasamvara contains a unique Completion Stage practice
cycle known as The Five Arisings, which presents practices related to
desire and bliss, including karmamudra. Rinpoche will give transmissions
for these profound completion stage practices, planting the seeds for
their accomplishment in the future, even if they are not realized in
this life.

Mahamudra Direct Experiential Instruction & Practice

Mahamudra, meaning “Great Seal,” is
the direct realization of the mind’s inseparable emptiness and luminous
awareness. Mahamudra training bypasses conceptual elaboration by
pointing directly to the mind’s nature. Rinpoche will share essence
Mahamudra teachings he has received from some of the great teachers of
our time, including His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche, His Eminence Garchen
Rinpoche, His Eminence Drubwang Rinpoche, and many others.
These
liberating instructions will provide students with direct introduction
to the empty and luminous nature of mind. Rinpoche will combine
spontaneous heart teachings with Mahamudra meditation practice and
opportunities for students to ask questions to clarify their practice.
| | About the Retreat Master | | |
Having
great altruistic motivation from early childhood, Venerable Drupon
Rinchen Dorjee entered Tana Monastery in Tibet in 1984. Drupon received
teachings on the Fivefold Path of Mahamudra and Kunsang Lama’s Words of
Profound Instruction, Dzogchen’s Great Completion Parting from Samsara
and Nirvana, Pointing Out the Nature of Mind, and other teachings from
Tulku Nyendrak Gyaltsen Rinpoche. Drupon has also received Chakrasamvara
according to Drilbupa, including the empowerment, scriptural
transmission, and pith instructions from Tulku Thogme Rinpoche.
Venerable
Drupon Rinchen Dorjee joined the Drikung Kagyu Institute in 1993, and
has received instruction in philosophy, Gongchig, Theckchen Tenying,
Dhagpo Thargyan, and Uttaratantra from Khenchen Konchog Gyaltsen and
other profound teachers of the Lineage. In 1995 Drupon received full
ordination vows from His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche, and
in the same year accomplished the ngondro practices to mahamudra and
the grand mantra recitation of Chakrasamvara. In 1996, he received
initiation into the Profound Path of the Six Yogas of Naropa. Drupon
Rinchen Dorjee has completed two (2) three-year retreats, one at Almora
and one at Lapchi, the holy retreat place of the great yogi, Jetsun
Milarepa. He has received profound instructions too numerous to mention
during these retreats.
In
2005, he received the five-deities Hevajra according to Marpa’s
tradition of empowerment, transmission and instructions from His
Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche, and in 2006 he completed
the grand mantra recitation of glorious Hevajra’s fire puja at the
Almora retreat center.
Drupon
Rinchen Dorjee is now the retreat master for the 3 Year Retreat at the
Garchen Buddhist Institute and gives teachings on Chakrasamvara and
leads the Chakrasamvara Drupchen in the summer at the Institue. His main
center is Chicago Ratna Shri.
