KALACHAKRA: WHEEL OF TIME

EMPOWERMENT

MAHAMUDRA: NATURE OF MIND

PRACTICE INSTRUCTIONS

Dear Friends,

It is with great pleasure that Drikung Dzogchen Community Vermont (DDCV) welcomes Drupon Thinley Ningpo back to Vermont this August. Since 2004, Drupon Thinley has offered summer teachings to our community nearly every year. He is gifted in making the most profound teachings accessible to students through his unique blend of deep realization and practical warmth.

This year, Drupon-la will offer the rarely given Coemergent Kalachakra empowerment, as well as essence Mahamudra practice instructions from The Vajra Songs of Rinchen Phuntsok.

We hope you will join us for these precious teachings!

RETREAT SCHEDULE

Kalachakra: Wheel of Time

Empowerment

August 1: 9:30–12, 2:30–5 pm

We are profoundly honored to announce a rare and historic event: the bestowal of the Coemergent Kalachakra empowerment. Revered as the "King of Tantras," the Kalachakra offers a direct path to awakening by harmonizing the outer cosmos with the inner subtle body.

Mahamudra: Nature of Mind

Practice Instructions

August 2–3: 9:30–12, 2:30–5 pm

In the second part of the retreat, we turn to the songs of realization composed by the 16th-century Drikung Kagyu master Gyalwang Rinchen Phuntsok. In these visionary songs, he points directly to the profound realization of self-aware luminosity at the heart of the Mahamudra path.

ABOUT DRUPON THINLEY NINGPO

Drupon Thinley Ningpo Rinpoche was born in the Nag-chu District of Tibet, and from childhood was known for his warmth, compassion, and concern for others. After a varied early life as a teacher, municipal clerk, and student of veterinary medicine, his natural devotion ripened into a commitment to the Dharma. He entered Drong Ngur Monastery under Lama Kedrub Siddhi Rinpoche, mastering ritual, sacred art, and stupa construction, and later received the essential Mahamudra instructions from the great yogin Drubwang Pachung Rinpoche at Drikung Thel.

In 1988 he made a perilous two-month escape across the Himalayas to India, where he completed the full monastic curriculum and served six years as dean of his institute. He then entered the traditional three-year retreat at Dorje Redrubde hermitage in Alora, where he accomplished the practices of the Five-fold Mahamudra and the profound path of the Six Yogas of Naropa. Additionally, he participated in the Drikung Kagyu Snake Year teaching retreat and received the entire body of Drikung Kagyu empowerments, transmissions, and instructions for advanced practice. In this way, he completed the process of advanced training in all the profound and sacred traditions of the Drikung Kagyu and earned the title of Drupon, "master of spiritual attainment."

It is as a teacher of Western students that Drupon-la's gifts shine most clearly. Serving first at the Tibetan Meditation Center in Frederick, Maryland, and since 2012 establishing a center for study and retreat in Wesley Chapel, Florida, he has shown a rare ability to perceive the inner needs of each student and to offer exactly the teaching that will carry them forward. He joins deep realization with practical wisdom, meeting Western practitioners where they are and guiding them, with great kindness, along their own path to liberation.
